This portrait of Myles Kennedy is a tribute to the lead singer of my all-time favorite band, Alter Bridge. Myles Kennedy’s voice, emotion, and incredible range have made a lasting impact on me, and capturing his presence in a hand-drawn portrait felt like the perfect way to honor an artist whose music has meant so much.
Like all of my portraits, this piece was created using only a standard #2 pencil and the grid method — a technique I originally learned in 4th grade summer school and later refined after being inspired by the work of Chuck Close. Working square by square, I slowly built this portrait with patience and precision, focusing on realism, shading, and expression until the full image came together.
Myles Kennedy’s expressive features and emotional stage presence made this portrait especially rewarding to create. Every detail was carefully developed to capture the intensity and character that fans of Alter Bridge immediately recognize.
