This portrait of Steve Jobs is a tribute to one of the most influential innovators and visionaries of our time. Known for his simplicity, creativity, and relentless pursuit of excellence, Steve Jobs changed the way we interact with technology and inspired millions to think differently. This portrait aims to capture that same spirit — simple, focused, and powerful.
Like all of my portraits, this piece was created using nothing more than a standard #2 pencil and a carefully measured grid. This technique traces back to something I first learned in 4th grade summer school, and later refined after being inspired by the work of Chuck Close.
After seeing Chuck Close’s exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum, I was inspired to revisit the grid method and push it further. Working square by square, I slowly built this portrait with patience and precision, focusing on proportion, shading, and realism until the full image came together.
What makes this portrait unique is its simplicity:
Drawn entirely using a #2 pencil
Created using the grid method
Built square by square with precision and patience
No digital shortcuts or special graphite tools
This artwork represents:
Simplicity and innovation inspired by Steve Jobs
Precision and patience
Inspiration from Chuck Close
Hand-drawn realism using a #2 pencil
Each print captures the texture, shading, and detail of the original hand-drawn portrait.
